Established in 1947 Shippenville/ Elk Township Volunteer Fire Department has continually served the citizens of Shippenville Borough, Elk and Paint townships as the primary source of fire and rescue services for over 75 years. With over 50 miles of primary coverage responsibility and a population of 3,500 citizens we provide services for rural farms, heavy industry and manufacturing, residential developments, major traffic arteries, and large tracts of wildlands. We also provide mutual aid coverage to all our neighboring municipalities and emergency response agencies.
We are here 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, regardless of circumstances to provide you with the best fire and rescue protection we can. From vehicle accidents, structure fires, wildland fires, search and rescues and EMS assists we your local volunteers are here for YOU and the COMMUNITY!

Our 3rd Annual Bring On Summer Raffle offering something for everyone who enjoys summer. We have 20 fabulous prizes to be given away. We will be having a live drawing for all prizes this year. Only $20.00 per ticket with a limit of 1000 tickets being sold. Proceeds to benefit new truck fund. Tickets available online thru PayPal ,Square or through any firefighter.

We have a mailed fund drive letter that goes out to individuals and businesses with a mailing address in our coverage areas. Please fill it out completely with any changes needed for names or addresses. Your generosity is greatly appreciated for one of our biggest fundraisers.

Do you rent the fire station for events?

No we do not rent the fire station for events, unfortunately our station is designed to house our apparatus and gear. it is not suitable for most events.

Do you rent tables and chairs?

Yes we have a limited amount of tables and chairs for rental. Tables are $5.00 per day and chairs are .50 per day.

Do you fill swimming pools or cisterns?

Our apparatus is designed for firefighting, as such we leave the bulk transportation of water for pools or cisterns to our local professionals.

How do I become a member?

We are always looking for members and you DON"T have to fight fires!! We are accepting members in the following categories.
1. Full members-firefighters and fire police from ages 18- and up.
2 Junior members- These are young people ages 16-18 who we start to help grow into firefighters thru training.
3. Social members that would help with fundraising, community events and any other non firefighting aspects of our organization.

You can receive a application from any member of the fire department.
